Horn Creek is one of the oldest Baptist churches in the "Backcountry" of South Carolina. Built in 1790, it is a rare example of the one-room meeting style church that reflects the simplicity and frugality of early settlers. Horn's Creek was restored recently.
Also on the property was a 1781 Revolutionary War skirmish where a Tory party was defeated and captured.
Word of caution: the historic road, once used by stagecoaches, is unpaved and difficult to navigate. Large vehicles such as buses are discouraged. Please call the Welcome Center to arrange a tour.
